Focus and Scope

The Journal of Business and Public Policy (JBPP) will focus on the academic study of business and public policy (BAPP), which is concerned with public policy development, as well as with changing corporate structures and practices. We will therefore welcome scholarly articles from scholars and practitioners on any aspect in the field of BAPP, especially topics dealing with corporate governance, organizational ethics, the political influence of business, the integration of BAPP analysis with strategic management, and multinational business-society relationships.

Peer Review Process

The Journal of Business and Public Policy (JBPP) is a peer-reviewed, scholarly publication that adheres to the standard double-blind review process, which entails that every manuscript be reviewed by at least two reviewers. JBPP reviewers are required to return their reviews within 14 days. A quality review can be completed within a week or less, and the problem is usually whether the reviewer has the time to devote to the review within a 14-day window. As soon as we get feedbacks from the reviewer, they will be cross-checked by the content editors and communicated to the researcher(s).

JBPP has a targeted acceptance rate of 30 percent - about the same as the competitive tracks at major international conferences. Papers that have been accepted at major competitive conferences should have a strong probability of being accepted by JBPP. We accept all interesting insights or results in the field of business and public policy (BAPP), regardless of theoretical or methodological stance. The bottom line is whether an article adds to the on going discussion in BAPP.

In addition to inviting leading scholars in the field of BAPP into the editorial board, JBPP invites authors and readers to sign up as reviewers and list their areas of research expertise. This pool of reviewers is matched against the keywords in a paper to select appropriate reviewers. Reviewers are then rated on the quality of their reviews, and those with four or more satisfactory reviews will be able to apply for membership of the editorial board. We think that by providing transparency in the selection of editorial board members on the basis of demonstrated review skills and expertise is a better way of serving the BAPP community.
